Transforming Over the Years
The Academy Group launches the Pre-Professional Program, designed to help members access high-opportunity industries and land strong first jobs.
We are proud to see our commitment to young members pay off. Our footprint expands with new programs in Boston and Los Angeles!
The Academy Group announces the Opportunity Scholarship Award, paying off student loan debt for current and future members.
We contribute to student 529 college savings and brokerage investment accounts to support early wealth building.
In response to COVID-19, The Academy Group successfully develops a robust online program with experiential learning, academic acceleration, and social-emotional support.
Investing in students’ progress, we introduce experiences that allow elementary students to launch small student businesses and earn real profits as young entrepreneurs.
We open our application city-wide to change the lives of young black and brown kids. We also launched our sister program Amplify which helps members aged 21-30 build wealth and prepare for careers.
The Academy Group launches a pilot program for 4th and 12th graders in Chicago.

We aim to create a pipeline of young people who can lead themselves, their families, and their communities. Our ultimate goal is to empower young people to build successful careers that will lead to generational wealth.
Who We Serve
The Academy Group works with students starting in fourth grade and supports them throughout their academic careers and beyond. We're proud to create pathways for a diverse group of young people, the majority of whom (95%) identify as Black and Latino.
The Academy provides its members the tools they need to succeed. Members receive individualized tutoring, advising, enrichment, internships and financial support so that they can enter their professional lives with no educational debt.

The Academy Group Invests Big in Young People.
We created a unique funding model that continuously nurtures and supports our pipeline of exceptional human capital. Launched from initial investments by Mark and Kimbra Walter, we built a model where we invest in a diverse portfolio of commercial companies that share our vision. Then, we use the revenue to support The Academy's operations.
We established ownership stakes in our portfolio companies, CFI Partners and Cleveland Avenue, which return a portion of net income to fund our program.
This innovative structure ensures opportunities for members while leading to a model that will eventually be self-sustaining without the need for philanthropic capital.
The Academy Group-sponsored Amplify program is a wealth-building pathway integrating career, leadership, and entrepreneurship for 20 to 26-year-old young adults from underserved communities. Amplify allows participants to earn industry credentials, build investment portfolios, address trauma, set personal and professional goals, and transition into career and entrepreneurial pathways.
