Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
The accelerated program is designed for high school seniors who are college-bound and interested in professional
career opportunities. The program benefits include a laptop computer, college access, and planning support. The members receive support with writing personal statements, college essays, college applications, college tours, and other topics. Similarly, the program provides career readiness preparation: resume writing, social networking, interview preparation, and a paid internship. Additionally, the students who complete the program and enroll in college are eligible for a $20k college stipend, GPA bonus stipend, college persistence advising, and the Opportunity Scholarship Award.
The school year program includes monthly seminar sessions that begin in fall 2024. The members will engage in experiential curriculum topics such as wealth-building and career preparation. The program day is tentatively scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. We will provide catered meals.
The Chicago flagship program provides experiences over fourteen years. As such, members receive a more comprehensive curriculum that builds on prior knowledge and experiences. However, the Boston and Los Angeles Accelerated Programs are comparable to the curriculum offered to Chicago high school seniors. All eligible members now receive the college stipend, GPA bonuses, internship, and Opportunity Scholarship Award.
All eligible members receive a $20k college stipend upon college enrollment. The stipend is disbursed over four undergraduate years. Thus, members will receive $5k annually. Members must provide proof of college enrollment and submit their semester grades via the Academy Group portal. The GPA excellence stipend is based on the undergraduate term GPA. Members must earn a 3.3. GPA or greater to be eligible for the stipend.
Each member will be assigned to a college access and persistence advisor. The college access advisor is responsible for supporting the member with the college planning process and works directly with undergraduate members, supporting the member throughout their undergraduate journey.
The Opportunity Scholarship Award was created to help Academy Group and Amplify members with the cost of admissions to an accredited undergraduate, technical, or trade school. It aims to close the gap between financial aid, scholarships, and the cost of admissions. Often, college students must take out a student loan to cover the balance of their postsecondary costs. As a result, college graduates incur student loans throughout their undergraduate program. So, the Opportunity Scholarship Award will pay eligible members’ total student loan debt.
The scholarship will be awarded via a one-time payment to the loan service provider upon proof of graduation from an accredited college, university, technical, or trade school. Only student loan debt accrued by the member will be paid.
