With more than 15 years of experience in energy, environmental policy and public affairs, Jon Coifman is one of today's most knowledgeable practitioners of clean technology communications. He has worked with a wide variety of corporate, nonprofit and public sector partners to create solutions-oriented initiatives on energy efficiency, green building, organizational branding, carbon policy, and green and sustainable business.
An accomplished media strategist and spokesman, Jon has frequently appeared on network and cable television, National Public Radio, and in print outlets ranging from the New York Times to People magazine. He speaks regularly about trends in environmental marketing and communications.
Before joining the agency in the spring of 2008, Jon was national media director at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), one of the country's most respected environmental organizations. His portfolio included Supreme Court cases and legislative advocacy, as well as partnerships with companies including Microsoft, Bank of America, Wal-Mart and Toyota. He also handled top-tier celebrity media events and worked closely with NRDC's Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2) partner group.
Jon has also worked at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and served on the staff of two senior members of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Originally from Minneapolis, Jon holds a master's in public policy from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor's in political science from the University of Wisconsin.
